About Jake Thompson

Jake Thompson has spent the last eight years covering consumer technology, social platforms, and the tools that orbit them. He started his career as a staff writer at TechCrunch, where he reported on the early wave of social-media automation services, and later contributed to The Verge on privacy, scraping, and the murky economy of third-party app developers. That beat gave him a front-row seat to a pattern he could not ignore: every time a popular platform tightened its rules, a swarm of opportunistic tools appeared promising users a workaround, and almost none of them were honest about what they actually did.

In 2024 he founded GoomView Hub to fix the specific problem he kept running into as a reporter. Search "best Instagram viewer" and you land on dozens of affiliate sites that have clearly never opened the tools they rank. Scores are invented. Screenshots are stock images. The "editor" is a stock photo with a made-up name. Jake built this site to be the opposite of that: a place where every score is signed by a named human who tested the tool, where the methodology is public, and where the number-one pick earns its spot rather than buying it.

As founder and senior editor, Jake sets the editorial direction for the entire Hub and personally tests every tool that enters the Top 10. He owns the overall ranking, writes the flagship reviews and comparison guides, and is the final sign-off before any review goes live. When a tool's score moves, it is because Jake retested it and stands behind the change. He also wrote the Hub's 5-factor scoring rubric and its editorial policy.

Why Jake is qualified

Eight years of professional tech journalism is the short version. The longer version is that Jake has interviewed the founders of scraping companies, watched tools rise and quietly shut down, and developed a working understanding of how Instagram's anti-automation systems behave in practice - not just in theory. He knows the difference between a tool that genuinely fetches public content through its own infrastructure and one that is quietly harvesting your session data. That instinct, built over years of reporting, is what shapes the Hub's money-keyword guides and keeps the rankings honest.

He is also a stickler for process. Every review on this site goes through a two-person check before publishing, a standard Jake insisted on from day one. He would rather ship a review a week late than ship one that has not been verified twice.
